Services: Evening Worship
The evening service at Holy Trinity does not follow a set pattern every month, so it is advisable to check the services web page. Holy Trinity's Evening Service is sometimes replaced by special services - for example the Churches Together Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Service; the Summer Evensong at Altcar; the annual Christian Aid Service in May or the quarterly Memorial Service.
If there isn't a special service in a month, then the pattern of services is as follows:
1st Sunday - Evening Prayer in the Parish Lounge
at 6.30pm (About 30 minutes).
This is an informal service, in the Parish Lounge. It follows the Order
of Service for Evening Prayer in Common Worship. There is normally a
short “thought” linked to the Bible Reading.
Although there aren’t refreshments at the end, people tend to stay for
a chat.
2nd Sunday - Praise
and Healing at 6.30pm (About 45minutes
to an hour)
The venue for this service in the summer is in Church and in winter
it is in the workshop. This is a quiet service with time for prayers
for healing during and at the end of the service. There isn't a set
service - we sing some songs, have a bible reading, a reflection or
poem and prayer. For more information about healing see the web page.
Refreshments are served from 6pm
3rd Sunday - Holy Communion in the Lounge
at 6.30pm (About 30 minutes)
A quiet, intimate service of breaking bread together. There is a set
service following Common Worship with a Bible reading and short address.
4th Sunday (5th Sunday ) - Evening Prayer in the Lounge at 6.30pm (see 1st Sunday above for details)
Memorial Service
The Memorial Service takes place quarterly, usually on the last Sunday of January, April, July and October, at 4.30pm. The next Memorial Service will take place on 25th July at 4.30pm
Before the service afternoon tea is served, in the Workshop, from 4pm
The service provides those who have been recently bereaved, with an opportunity, after the Funeral, to remember their loved ones.
It is a simple service with hymns that might have been sung at the Funeral, Bible Readings and an act of remembrance at the end, when the bereaved are invited to light a candle, as the name of their loved one is read out.
Invitations are given to the families of those, who we as a Church have ministered to over the previous three months. However there is an open invitation to anyone who has been bereaved, no matter how long ago, to join us for this service.
