Why I Love Being a Cub

By Connor Dykesaged 10

I love being a cub because we do lots of amazing things.
Some of my favourite activities are:

  • Night hikes – when we get the train to Crosby and then walk back through the woods.
  • Orienteering in the sand dunes and woods.
  • Wet Day at Marine Lake – where we go kayaking and build our own rafts to go sailing on.
  • Cub football tournaments.
  • Workshop activities – when we play games and do crafts.
  • Badges – we can choose from loads of different badges and we can earn some on camp.
But best of all I love Cub Camp, where we have a weekend of fun doing:
  • Bell boating – rowing and jumping into the water.
  • Archery.
  • Camp-fires – BBQ with hot dogs and burgers.
When we went to PGL in Shropshire we did some really scary things like:
  • Trapeze – where we had to jump and make a leap of faith.
  • Jacobs Ladder where we had to work as a team to help each other up the ladder.

Oh, and the leaders are brill!
