The Alpha Course

The Alpha courses which have been run at Holy Trinity have been very successful and enjoyed by all who attended them. If you would like more information or if are interested in joining the next course please contact church office.

The Alpha course runs for 10 weeks and is held in the Church Lounge and Workshop. Each session usually starts with an informal meal, followed by one of a series of talks addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith. Discussion and questions, accompanied by coffee & biscuits brings the session to a close.

Alpha Courses are well known in the UK. A special advertising campaign in September each year proclaims that one is running “in a church near you”. Research shows that almost a third of the British people recognise the little man holding a question-mark shaped balloon as indicating a Christian teaching course.

More than 2 million British people have now attended an Alpha Course. About half of these would already have been churchgoers, there to assist the non-churchgoers also attending, and many of these churchgoers would have attended several times. But even if five per cent of the public have attended a course on Christianity that has to be encouraging. No wonder the churches running Alpha Courses are so positive about them!

Not only the British attend Alpha Courses. Holy Trinity, Brompton, the London church where the course originated, has taken them worldwide. The latest figures suggest , 10 million people worldwide have done Alpha. Around one person in a thousand across the globe.
