Monthly Prayer Harmony: February 2012
Prayer Harmony is a group of people from Holy Trinity, who pray for the church and the surrounding district, including other churches, the police, and also the charities that the church supports. We would be delighted to add your name to our mailing list each month, so that prayer will truly underpin the work and witness of Holy Trinity. It involves prayer in your own home, each month receiving advice on where prayer is needed. We would welcome others to join us, please contact the church office
February 2012
Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.
Ps 119:18
With Christmas barely behind us, we are looking forward to Ash Wednesday,
this month, and Lent, with its focus on turning to God, deepening
our prayer and commitment. We pray for the Bible study
groups that meet regularly, throughout the year. We pray that the
people that attend may be inspired by the word of God, to go out into
the world and bring that Word to others.
We pray for the Church Urban fund, which supports and aids families
in the inner city, especially during this time of financial distress.
We pray for all who have fallen into debt (often with loan sharks),
and
have little hope of getting out of their problems, without help from
outside.
We pray for our ministry team: for Pam, our Warden; John and Margaret, at Redgate; John and Val; all the ‘visiting’ clergy that are helping whilst we haven’t got a Vicar; and all the Readers. We give thanks to God for their faithfulness, in taking on extra duties, ensuring that all aspects of church life are maintained.
We pray for Mark, our new Vicar, and Sam, his wife, as they prepare to move to Formby. We pray for an easy ‘move’, that they may settle in well, and find a warm welcome in our community.
We pray for Kath and Dave, as Kath is licensed this month to her new church. We pray that they, both, may find friendship and love in their new home and parish, and that they may be fulfilled in their ministry to the people of Thornton and Crosby.
We pray for our children, especially those that attend the various
‘Sunday Schools’. We pray for the Laserbeams and Sunbeams, at Rosemary
Lane, and the Adventurers at Redgate. We pray for the
newly confirmed youngsters, who meet monthly. We pray that they may
deepen their faith and develop their understanding and friendship
with Our Lord, and by their behaviour and compassion, encourage others
to seek for friendship with the Risen Christ.
We pray for St Michael’s, Altcar. It is likely that we and they
will become ‘sister’ churches, in some fashion, during the near future.
The details are being worked out and will take some time to finalise,
but in the meantime, we will be able to draw closer and offer love
and friendship, to friends that we have had for a long time, but who
are, now, becoming family.
We pray for one of our unsung hero groups. We give thanks for those that regularly give car lifts to those who would otherwise not be able to get to church, through age or infirmity. It is only when you are unable to get around easily, under your own steam, that you realise how kind these drivers are: lending an arm; fetching the wheel chair; always cheerful; always willing.
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths. Micah 4:2
Thank you for your prayers, I am always grateful for any suggestions
Sylvia
