'Come as you are' - 19th September 2010
The theme for this year’s Back to Church Sunday is ‘Come as you are’ to assure people that God loves us just as we are, and that you don’t have to be good, posh, or anything in particular to come to church. Many of us regular church members forget how difficult it can be to walk into a church for the first time for a long time when the building is big and imposing and a newcomer or returnee might not know anyone or what to expect. They may not know where to sit, when to stand, sit or speak which is why it is much much easier to come with a friend.
Over the next few weeks think and pray about who you will invite to church. At Holy Trinity Rosemary Lane and Redgate we are holding our special Back to Church Sunday services on the 19th September and our splendid hospitality team are putting on a parish lunch so you can invite your friends, neighbours and or family to church and to lunch! Many people would love to come to Sunday lunch with you after church and enjoy good company, good food and laughter. We will need to know numbers so we can prepare the Parish Hall.
Our Harvest services are the following week which is also another great opportunity to invite people to our special services that day, and on the following two weeks we have Breakfast service, Celebration service, Messy Church in the afternoon; on the 3rd at Ravenmeols Community Centre, and on the 10th at Redgate. So there are services of every type for every type of person or family: quiet devotional services, traditional music, family services, healing and Messy.
Please pray the BTCS prayer over the next three weeks and take an invitation card, and invite the person or family you believe God has placed on your heart,
Welcoming God, thank you for life.
Thank you for making us and loving us.
Thank you for inviting us to know you
Help us to invite (your friends name(s here)) to church so they
can know you too.
Please bless Back to Church Sunday everywhere.
Help us to know you better.
We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
He said to them, “Come and see” John 1.39
God Bless you! Kath
