Imagine Mozambique: Vicky's Life Changing Trip

I
recently returned from a life changing trip to Mozambique, I was there
for a month and I worked with the charity Imagine Mozambique. Imagine
Mozambique was founded by Joe and Lorraine Williams from Liverpool
in 1999 and the charity help with food and housing, along with many
other community development projects. I spent most of my time at a
project called the Family Homes, which are homes for abused, abandoned
or orphaned children. It differs from an orphanage as each house (there
are 4 houses) has a set of parents that essentially adopt the children,
so it has a wonderful atmostphere. I did lots of activities with the
children, we did arts and crafts, sports, music and I taught the older
children English. We also spent a lot of time at the Mother Teresa
Sister's Orphanage in Maputo, here we helped with feeding and changing
the babies but mostly just playing with the children!
Before
I embarked on this adventure I managed to fundraise £1000, all of
which went towards Mosquito nets for the Family Homes, as malaria
is a big problem in Mozambique. I raised this money by cake sales
and received very generous donations, so I would like to say a big
thank you to all those who helped me raise the money! We also donated
lots of clothes, arts and crafts materials and sports gear. The trip
was a brilliant experience, spending time with the Mozambican people
was amazing, they were so appreciative of everything, they were so
joyful and there was lots of singing and dancing!

Vicky will give a presentation on her recent trip to Mozambique at Rosemary Lane on the 12th September. Vicky has a lot of photographs and will show some of them to help us appreciate all the great work that Lorraine and Imagine are continuing to develop in Catembe, with the help of our prayers, financial contributions and support!
