"The very sharp-eyed may just be able to spot some green bananas in the background - this type stay green and are used in a very common staple dish called matoke "

"My love to all at HT and in the Deanery, and to yourself and Meg. Thank you all also for financial and spiritual support. I am due back in the UK from 4 June - 4 July and very much hope to be up in Crosby at some stage." Quotes taken from a recent newsletter to the Rev. Keith Jones

Joe and Lorraine Williams originally went from Formby to Mozambique in 1989 to work on a British Government sponsored aid project. They spent their spare time helping various charities and local institutions and, when their work contract came to an end, they decided to stay voluntarily for a further two years to see these projects through to completion. However, one project led to another and in 1999 they finally acknowledged their life long dedication to the people of Mozambique and founded the charity ‘Imagine’.

Holy Trinity became supporters of the charity in 2005 with many people taking the boxes ‘a penny to save the world’ - in which people are encouraged to save a ‘penny per person per meal.’ These donations are received at Redgate with the offertory on the 4th Sunday of each month and, together with money raised at Garden Parties, Coffee Mornings, bequests in memory of the bereaved and personal donations we were able to send £6250 to ‘Imagine’ Mozambique in 2006.

On 23rd September 2007, on their annual visit to the UK, Joe and Lorraine came to Redgate for our ‘Imagine’ Sunday and after the service gave an illustrated talk about their work and how our donations have been used to help to house the destitute, provide classrooms for the children, and healthcare for those with AIDS/HIV (amongst other things). It was wonderful to see pictures of the ‘Redgate’ House and the family who now live there, as well as the ‘John McCreath’ House which has just been completed. It was an inspiring talk and also, as you can see from the photographs, a very happy occasion.
