There
are 3 grades of walk:
(A) 10-12 miles,
(B) 7-9 miles and
(C) 5-7 miles.
So choose a walk suitable for your fitness level and give it a
try! It's an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere for Church Members
- whilst walking in the freedom of the hills. Great relaxation,
exercise and lots of fun too! Visit the Holy
Trinity Fell Walking Website for further information.
The Fell Walking Club extends an invitation to anyone who would
like to use the coach as a means of transport to Bolton
Abbey on July 12 or Haworth
on August 9. The coach leaves from behind Iceland
at 08.00am. Please contact the church office to check whether
seats (£9) are available. Homeward departure at 5.00pm
Our History
The Fell Club was started in 1979 and aimed to gather together
once a month to walk the hills and dales, travelling by coach
to venues and providing a choice of three grades of walk. The
idea was very well received in 1979 and now in 2007 the walks
are well attended with an average of 42 walkers per month. Travelling
by coach enables us to circulate the walk descriptions so that
members can sign up for the walk of their choice, catch up with
any news about the church and its members and sets the scene for
a relaxing day of fresh air, friendship and fellowship. There
is usually opportunity at the end of the day to recover with a
welcome cup of tea before leaving for home at 17.00hrs.
The walks take place between March & November and a Shorter
Christmas walk takes place in early January again travelling by
coach. A great meal is enjoyed at a hostelry of our choice after
the walks and the coach enables everyone to relax on the way home.
The annual general meeting is in February and again is a great
social occasion. People are welcome to come and try the walks
for 4 months after which full membership is offered. The club
is open to anyone who enjoys the beauty and peace of the open
countryside.
We visit a wide area of venues, the Lakes, Derbyshire, Yorkshire
Dales, North Wales and The Trough of Bowland.
