Prayer Harmony May 2008
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide
you into all truth.” John 16:13
This month we celebrate three festivals, all of great relevance
to our faith journeys. Ascension Day reminds us of how Our Lord
has resumed His glory; Pentecost brought the Holy Spirit, in power,
to the Apostles and Trinity Sunday is, of course, our Patronal
festival. We pray for the people of our Church, each of the congregations,
that they may be renewed in their spirits and eager to know and
understand Jesus better.
At the Redgate Anniversary Service, the preacher will be Mark
Hedley, a man of faith, a Judge, a Reader. Because of his connections
with the law, we pray for the judicial system of our land, that
all will be fair and just, and that we may hold our heads up,
in the world, when we fight against injustice.
We don’t usually pick out any names in this newsletter,
but I ask for an exception this month, that you thank God for
the inspiration that Darrell has given us, as he celebrates his
80th birthday, and pray for his continued good health, as he starts
his 90th decade.
As our curates prepare for their ordinations, at the beginning
of June, we pray for God’s blessing on Janice and Kath,
that this time will bring great joy and fulfilment. We thank God
for the support given to them by their husbands, John and Dave.
We pray for our Clergy and Readers: Keith and Meg; John and Val;
Ruth and Richard and all the Readers. May they be inspired and
enthusiastic as they work for God, through the church.
We pray for the children of the church, that meet for Laser beams,
at the parish church and Adventurers at Redgate. We pray for those
that come only to the Celebration Service and Parade Service.
We ask that they may be able to find their own living faith in
Jesus, through the help given by the leaders. We pray for the
children of the schools, at Redgate and Trinity St Peters, that
they may absorb the ideals and guidance which will make them good
citizens of the world, especially through their knowledge of Christ.
We pray for the teenagers, in the high schools, that they may
be protected from all evil influences that are so easily accessed
and so tempting.
The visits to the people of the Redgate area continue with Beaufort
and Battle Way. We pray that these people will feel able to ask
for prayer if they especially need it, and that they will know
that they have the friendship of the church, for the asking.
Christian Aid will be collecting this month, and we pray for a
pleasant reception for all the collectors and for hearts to be
moved to give generously.
“I will pour out my spirit on your offspring, and my blessing
on your descendants.” Isaiah 44: 3
God bless, Sylvia
