The Rev’d Canon Mark Stanford is presently Team Rector of the Toxteth Team ministry with responsibility for St Philemon’s Church Toxteth and Area Dean of Toxteth and Wavertree. He is on the steering committee of “Together for the Harvest”.

Mark was born in Ilford, Essex on the outskirts of the East End of London He is married to Sam and has got four people who call him Dad. Three daughters by birth; Emily, Harriet and Grace and Caleb who is originally from Uganda and lived with them for four years before moving out to live independently.

Mark trained for ministry in Durham before coming to Liverpool Diocese as a curate at Christ Church, Aughton and then onto to his present role at St Philemon’s in Toxteth. Mark and his family have been there for nearly 10 years and moving will be a wrench. They're really going to miss the people. But too, they're excited because they know that God goes with them and before them as they take this next step in their journey.

Mark’s licensing as priest in charge of Holy Trinity Church will be on the 11th of March 2012.

We have two grown-up sons, Ben and Owen. I was a Venture Scout leader for about 10 years and have sung (after a fashion) in the church music group. I was licensed as a Reader in 1998. I enjoy preaching because it’s the only time I can speak without being interrupted. I’m a geologist by profession and believe in the complete harmony of the Bible with modern science.
