The Ministry Team
Rev’d Canon Mark Stanford: Vicar
After
a recent interview, Mark Stanford has been appointed the new Vicar
of Holy Trinity Church Formby.
The Rev’d Canon Mark Stanford is presently Team Rector of the Toxteth Team ministry with responsibility for St Philemon’s Church Toxteth and Area Dean of Toxteth and Wavertree. He is on the steering committee of “Together for the Harvest”.
Mark was born in Ilford, Essex on the outskirts of the East End of London He is married to Sam and has got four people who call him Dad. Three daughters by birth; Emily, Harriet and Grace and Caleb who is originally from Uganda and lived with them for four years before moving out to live independently.
Mark trained for ministry in Durham before coming to Liverpool Diocese as a curate at Christ Church, Aughton and then onto to his present role at St Philemon’s in Toxteth. Mark and his family have been there for nearly 10 years and moving will be a wrench. They're really going to miss the people. But too, they're excited because they know that God goes with them and before them as they take this next step in their journey.
Mark’s licensing as priest in charge of Holy Trinity Church will be on the 11th of March 2012.

“I retired from being Vicar at St John’s Fairfield and returned to
Holy Trinity in 2003. I am married to Val (a retired counsellor) and
have grown up children living away. I have particular interest in
healing ministry and teaching as part of my ministry here.” We sometimes
offer an in depth listening and healing ministry to individuals who
the Lord leads to us. .

have been a member of Holy Trinity since 1974 when I moved from Portsmouth
to Formby with my family. I am married to my wife Barbara and have
two grown up sons. I was licensed as a reader for Holy Trinity Church

I’ve
attended Holy Trinity Church with Jean since we moved to Formby in
1979 and found a very warm welcome here. We have two grown-up sons,
Ben and Owen. I was a Venture Scout leader for about 10 years and
have sung (after a fashion) in the church music group. I was licensed
as a Reader in 1998. I enjoy preaching because it’s the only time
I can speak without being interrupted. I’m a geologist by profession
and believe in the complete harmony of the Bible with modern science.

I have been licensed as a Reader since 1988, and I am most interested
in helping people have a greater experience of prayer, and exploring
the Scriptures. Mainly, I have an input at Redgate, where, apart from
taking part in the Services, I support the Adventurer's team.
After
a life of sailing the seven seas I met my wife Margaret whilst passing
through Liverpool in the early 1980’s, where we have lived happily
since. Was licensed as a Reader in April 2007, and to Holy Trinity
in April 2009. Becoming Reader with Responsibility for Redgate: “The
Church in the School” on 21st February 2010. I enjoy the challenge
set for each of us by the Bible.
